TrueMoney in Thailand: foreign-customer limits, fees and safeguards

Compare TrueMoney conditions by identity-verification level and transaction type. Wallet capacity, transfer allowance and funding fees are separate limits that must all be checked for the account.

Identify the customer category first

The TrueMoney foreign-customer limits page distinguishes basic verification using a passport from advanced verification using a passport and supporting document. These conditions are for foreign customers, not a universal table for every Thai account. Eligibility still depends on the provider accepting the required documents and completing verification. A publicly listed product or fee does not establish that a particular customer can use it. Read the limits shown in your account and ask official support when a feature is unavailable.

This selected table is not the complete account matrix. The provider also specifies combined categories, funding limits and device-related restrictions. A larger wallet balance does not mean the whole balance can be transferred in one operation. Check the account’s current remaining allowance before planning an essential payment.

Fees depend on what you actually do

The official fee page separates top-ups, bank transfers, QR transfers and other operations. Its covered top-up rules include a monthly free-transaction allowance and charges thereafter, with named channel exceptions. Do not compress that into “all top-ups are free” or one fee for every bank. A published bank-transfer fee likewise does not prove that a foreigner tier has access to that transfer function. Read both the eligibility matrix and the relevant fee row, then check the final confirmation. The service terms govern the account relationship and funding sources.

A calculation for planning, not a tariff quote

Suppose an eligible operation shows THB 500 to the recipient and THB 6 as a separately disclosed fee. The total debit would be THB 506. This is a synthetic calculation illustrating how to read a confirmation screen, not a statement that this fee applies to that operation. If a monthly count affects pricing, record how many covered operations have already been made and when the count resets. If another currency or overseas service is involved, examine the displayed rate and recipient amount as well as the explicit fee.

Safe-use checklist

  • Identify the basic or advanced foreign-customer tier shown in the account.
  • Check balance, per-operation, daily and monthly combined constraints.
  • Confirm that the desired function is available to the tier.
  • Read the precise fee row for the funding or transfer channel.
  • Verify recipient, amount and total debit before authorising.
  • Keep receipts and use the support route inside the official service.

Do not lend the wallet, rent another person’s account or split transactions to evade controls. Keep the registered phone number and identity details current through official settings. A retailer offering to “upgrade” an account without the provider’s verification process is not a substitute for legitimate eligibility.

Resolve conflicting or outdated information

TrueMoney’s help centre and marketing pages can describe different customer categories or publication periods. Give priority to the current account-specific conditions, and ask support to clarify a discrepancy before adding funds you may not be able to use as intended. Keep the relevant page date and the support answer. If money is debited unexpectedly, record the transaction reference and contact the provider promptly. This independent guide does not open accounts, collect identification or promise access to every feature listed on TrueMoney’s website.

Example: wallet capacity versus a permitted action

A foreign customer with advanced verification might see a wallet capacity larger than the remaining allowance for a specific transfer category. Topping up to the capacity does not create permission to transfer the whole balance that day. Before adding funds for an important purchase, check whether the purchase is a merchant payment, wallet transfer or another operation, then inspect its applicable combined limits. If a feature is absent, do not assume it will appear after adding more money. Ask TrueMoney support to clarify the account’s eligibility first. Keep the answer with the relevant terms and avoid letting another person use your wallet as a workaround. Account capacity is a ceiling, not a recommendation to hold that amount.

Frequently asked questions

Is THB 50,000 available to every foreign user?

No. The published wallet capacity is for the advanced verification category, subject to the provider’s conditions and other limits.

Does a listed transfer fee prove I can use the transfer feature?

No. Feature eligibility and pricing are separate checks.

Can I treat a wallet balance ceiling as a daily spending allowance?

No. The account also has transaction and combined daily or monthly controls.
